It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now? 

August 26th - God Wants All of His Children to be Watched Over and Cared For. led by Julia Witham

We are not alone. We have ancestors in Heaven that minister to us and cheer us on from Heaven.

Julia shared a story from when she was in her youth...She was prayed for at a wayward time by her parents and received direct help from a brother who had died and was ministering to her through the veil.

3 Nephi 7:18 teaches us that Angels can and do minister to us daily. The key is to stay close enough to the Holy Spirit to feel and recognize when it’s happening.

“In the coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, direction, comforting, constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” – President Russell M. Nelson April 2018

Think of the Spirit as a Spiritual lifeline directly from Heaven. The world tries to sever it and at times through our own actions we may even temporarily separate from it. But it can always be repaired. The temple, repentance, service, scriptures, daily prayer all work to keep that lifeline strong.

Just as our ancestors minister to us from Heaven, we are called to be ministers to each other. Ministering is a way of thinking, a way of loving others through action, thought and deed. We can all minister to each other regardless of if we are specifically called as each others ministering sisters or not. 

Stay close to the Spirit and listen for those promptings from the other side that can direct us as we minister to each other.

Everyone:  Find one moment each week this month to be still.

Personalize it:  Discover how you find peace in your life.  Take a look at your busy and eliminate something that isn't necessary. Start your day with positive thoughts.  When things feel overwhelming take deep breathes.  Take a step back if things aren't going as planned and  be okay with changing the plan. 

Everyone:  Decide what kind of minister you are going to be.
Personalize it:  Where do you need to improve?  Pray for those you minister to?  Listen for revelation in what your sister(s) need?  Act on promptings? Get to know your sister(s) better? etc.

August 19th - His Spirit to Be With You by Henry B. Eyring  led by Rebekah Nagata

What is the difference between having the gift of the Holy Ghost and feeling the spirit? 

We all feel the spirit from time to time, but having the companionship of the Holy Ghost to be with us at all times is truly a gift.  

There are times that we may feel that the Spirit has left us, because we don’t feel it’s influence as often or as strong. Remember, the Spirit speaks to us in different ways  and at different times...Sometimes it may be as soft as the flutter of a butterfly wing, and at other times it may seem to shout at us and shake us to our very core.

The more we strive to listen to and heed the promptings of the Spirit, the more we will recognize how it speaks to us. 

So, what if we aren’t feeling the Spirit as strong, what if we feel as if he has withdrawn? MaryAnn Mardesich shared the following quote – “If you feel further from God today then yesterday, then we know who moved.”   

Heavenly Father wants us to feel the Spirit. He wants us to draw closer to him. Remember the Spirit is a comforter (John 14:14-21) and testifies of Christ. It can also be a guide, giving us warnings and direction as we navigate this path leading back to our Heavenly Father.

August 12, 2018 Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now? 

August 12th - Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives by Pres. Nelson led by Julie Peterson

Think about what Revelations for the Church have impacted you...One that stands out and has greatly affected our ward and the church worldwide is the age change for missionaries. What a blessing revelation is in our lives. It is an act of revealing confirming truths.   

Have you had any revelations lately pertaining to your own life?  We can and will receive revelation. And it is a great comfort to know that no one can take away a witness born to your heart through revelation.

Remember the Lord wants to help us. Often he is trying to give us answers and direction, but we are just not recognizing it. Know that if we face obstacles while following revelation that does not meant the revelation is wrong. The road to following revelation is often not a smoothly paved road.  

Scarlette and Kenzie each shared with us stories of revelation they received while choosing the colleges they will attend this fall. Scarlette felt the need to switch her intended college and Kenzie felt a pull to attend UVU. As they discussed with us their own unique experiences we learned that they took action in order to not only receive the revelation itself, but also to act upon it.

 Actions like - praying, seeking, asking, growing, hearing, fasting and increasing spiritually are all vital when seeking revelation in our lives.

So how can we seek greater experiences of revelation in our own lives? Find a quiet place and humble yourself before God. And consider these words from our dear Prophet: 

 "Nothing opens the heavens quite like the combination of increased purity, exact obedience, earnest seeking, daily feasting on the words of Christ in the Book of Mormon, and regular time committed to temple and family history work"

BYU Education Week Volunteers

Hosting volunteers are needed for BYU Education Week, August 20-24, 2018.  Volunteers receive Monday-Friday admission in exchange for their service, which includes greeting students, checking tickets, and taking attendance counts.  Hosts serve one shift each day, Tuesday through Friday, and are free to attend classes when they are not serving.  Hosting shifts generally last 3 hours and 45 minutes.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  Sign up online at https://edweek.byu.edu/volunteer or call 801-422-6214
