May 6th Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?
How do promptings of the Holy Ghost strengthen our faith? Council led by Yvonne

D&C 8:2-3  "Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart.  Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation..."

Heavenly Father answers our prayers in many ways.  With that said He really and truly wants to talk with each of us.  Through the Holy Ghost he can tell us what he wants us to know directly to our minds but we must take time to listen.

To receive answers we must first humble ourselves and have faith that we can and will receive answers.  Once we receive our our answers we will have confirmation by feelings of peace.

Often times we receive promptings from the Holy Ghost.  It is important we act upon these promptings in a timely manner.  Many of us have had that unfortunate experience of not acting on a prompting and have regretted it often.

As Mother's we tend to doubt ourselves and don't think we are doing good enough.  Kim stated it so beautifully:  The spirit does not speak to us and tell us we're bad or that we can't change or that we're the worst.  That is more of the adversary or natural man.  The spirit also does not give us a long list or a flood of things we need to change.  The spirit will only give us one or two and it will be accompanied by a feeling that we can do it with the help of the Lord.  See Revelation 1:16 where the sword that comes out of the Lord's mouth is sharp and pointed meaning focused and singular.  Compare that to Revelation 12:15 with the flood that comes out of Satan's mouth.

President Nelson said:  Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses - yes, the very longings of your heart.  And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind.  Record your feelings and follow through with actions and that you are prompted to take.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf said:  Spiritual light rarely comes to those who merely sit in darkness waiting for someone to flip a switch.  It takes an act of faith to open our eyes to the Light of Christ.

See ACTION below...

Council Action for May
Everyone: Pray in Faith with a desire and open hearts and minds to receive personal revelation.
Personalize it: What do you want to work on? Taking more time to listen? Writing down the thoughts that come to your mind? Follow through with the actions you are to take? Act immediately on a prompting? etc.

*Our apologies for not allowing time to let you share experiences you had with our last council action (we will improve on this.) Please leave a comment if you had an experience you are willing to share. We would love to be uplifted in this way!
