It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now? 

Ministering is motivated by Christlike Love - led by Vivien Oramas

When I truly love the people I serve I.....have compassion and empathy and a bond of friendship and can truly see them as our Savior does.

When I serve for other reasons I....tend to be more judgmental and have a negative attitude.  

We are our Savior's servants.  We are His eyes, ears and hands.  We need to learn to love as He loves.  

What motivated us to previously do our visiting teaching?  For many it was the check mark - but when we take that approach we are more focused on the "job" to get done vs being focused on the person.  

D&C 81:5   Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees. Often times it's easy to be selfish but we must let selfishness go and be faithful in serving those we minister to.

How can we do this?  Pray for them.  Pray to see them as our Savior sees them.  Visit them. Let's show action instead of giving them the "let me know if I can do anything for you." Get to know them, really know them and as a true friendship grows you will naturally be motivated by Christlike love and as they feel this love from you they will trust you and call on you when needed.

Let's leave the checkmarks in the past and let our ministering be driven by Christlike Love.

What greater gift dost thou bestow,

What greater goodness can we know

Than Christlike friends, whose gentle ways

Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

Council Action for July
Everyone:  Decide what kind of minister you are going to be.
Personalize it:  Where do you need to improve?  Pray for those you minister to?  Listen for revelation in what your sister(s) need?  Act on promptings? Get to know your sister(s) better? etc.

4 Suggestions for Developing Compassion:

Consider studying some of these scriptures to see how Jesus Christ’s compassion moved Him to heal, bless, and teach those around Him during His ministry: Matthew 9:35–38; 14:14; 18:27, 33; 20:30–34; Mark 1:40–42; 5:19; 6:30–42; 9:22; Luke 7:13; 10:33; 15:20.

How are you doing with this assignment?  The stake is asking all sisters to read Teaching in the Savior's Way. You can read it in the Gospel Library app or if you would like a hard copy, contact a member of the Sunday School Presidency.

Service Opportunities 

Travis and Clorissa Bascom family are moving THIS Saturday July 28th and need help loading their moving truck at 9:00am!  If you or any family members are available anytime Saturday morning please help this wonderful family out by making their load lighter!

***Also, Clorissa will need some help cleaning their current house the first part of next week.  More info and sign ups to come for that.  Stay tuned. :)***

BYU Education Week Volunteers

Hosting volunteers are needed for BYU Education Week, August 20-24, 2018.  Volunteers receive Monday-Friday admission in exchange for their service, which includes greeting students, checking tickets, and taking attendance counts.  Hosts serve one shift each day, Tuesday through Friday, and are free to attend classes when they are not serving.  Hosting shifts generally last 3 hours and 45 minutes.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  Sign up online at https://edweek.byu.edu/volunteer or call 801-422-6214

Volunteer Opportunities at the Development Center:  There has been a shortage of volunteers for the Wednesday dance for a few weeks now.  If you are looking for additional service opportunities this summer, you are invited to help out on one or more of the following Wednesdays:

If you want to help, contact Rod Mann 801-318-7141.  Volunteers (age 14 and up) will need to arrive at the development center by 6:00 PM for orientation. The dance starts at 6:30 and ends promptly at 7:30. This is a fun and meaningful service project.

Pray for guidance for those within our ward you can serve and then act upon those promptings.

If not and you need to change or update your info, go to your name in the directory (on a mobile device) and touch the red circle with a pencil and you can edit from there.  If you are signed on at lds.org, click on your name and then the edit button.

On your mobile device click on your name.  Directly underneath your name is a blue bar that says:  contact, household, membership information, callings and classes and ministering (you must scroll across to access each of these headings.)  Click on ministering and it will list those that minister to you and who you minister to.
