It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?

General Conference

We hope each of you were edified and uplifted as we heard from our beloved prophet and apostles this past weekend.  We hope you received answers you were searching for.  We look forward to listening and reading their messages again and again in the days and months ahead.  

We encourage you to do the same and as you do so we pray that you will continue to receive revelation for your own life as you continue on your covenant path.

Two things we'd like to note from conference:

1.  Starting in January, Sunday church meetings will go to 2 hours.  This change is to help balance gospel instruction at home and at church.  For more information about this click on this link: https://www.lds.org/church/news/changes-help-balance-gospel-instruction-at-home-and-at-church?lang=eng&_r=1  We encourage you to set regular times for gospel instruction in the home on Sundays and throughout the week.
2. In President Nelson's address to the women he invited us to help shape the gathering Israel by doing the 4 following things:  

Participate in a 10-day fast from social media and from any other negative or impure media. President Nelson encouraged women to notice how the fast affects their priorities and then to record and act on spiritual impressions they receive.

Read the Book of Mormon between now and the end of the year. President Nelson suggested that as we read, we mark each verse that refers to the Savior and talk about Him with friends and family.
 

Establish a pattern of regular temple attendance. Time in the temple can lead to greater understanding about how to draw upon God’s priesthood power, President Nelson said.
 

Participate fully in Relief Society. He added that studying the Relief Society purpose statement and the Relief Society declaration can help women understand who they are and who the Lord needs them to be.

We love you sisters and want the best for you in life and we know as you heed the words of the prophet, your lives will be blessed!  May you go forward in faith.

Ministering to the Sisters  
October ministering interviews will be on October 14th between 4:30-6:30.  They will last only 15 minutes. Cheryl Carter will be contacting you if you are scheduled for October so please respond back to her in a timely manner.  We would like you to attend ministering interviews with your companion if at all possible. 

Making Ministering Interviews Meaningful 

In supporting President Russell M. Nelson’s statement that the ministering program will be a hinge point on which the course of the Church will swing, Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught, “The realization of his vision … might be predicated upon how well ministering brothers and sisters are taught and engaged in the ministering interview.”

Four tips for ministering brothers and sisters:

• Go to the interview seeking counsel. Be ready to learn.
• Be prepared to discuss needs that you may need help meeting.
• Focus on the individual’s strengths and abilities, not just needs.
• Contact the presidency to counsel between quarterly interviews as needed.

Ministering Interviews

These quarterly interviews between ministering sisters and the Relief Society presidency or ministering brothers and the elders quorum presidency are the only formal report we make regarding those we minister to. The interview is an opportunity on at least a quarterly basis to (1) counsel about the strengths, needs, and challenges of assigned families and individuals; (2) determine what needs the quorum, Relief Society, or ward council might assist with; and (3) learn from leaders and be encouraged in ministering efforts.

The elders quorum president and the Relief Society president communicate important needs directly to the bishop and will receive counsel and direction from him.

"A new name, new flexibility, and fewer reports will not make one ounce of difference in our service unless we see this as an invitation to care for one another in a bold new holier way."

Please take a few minutes and follow these instructions. 

3.  Is your contact info correct?  

If not and you need to change or update your info, go to your name in the directory (on a mobile device) and touch the red circle with a pencil and you can edit from there.  If you are signed on at lds.org, click on your name and then the edit button.

4.  Do you know how to access your ministering assignment?

On your mobile device click on your name.  Directly underneath your name is a blue bar that says:  contact, household, membership information, callings and classes and ministering (you must scroll across to access each of these headings.)  Click on ministering and it will list those that minister to you and who you minister to.
