May 20th Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?
Small and Simple Things by Dallin H. Oaks - Julie Peterson

Just like the song 'These are a Few of My Favorite Things', many of our favorite things are small and simple!  The scent of lilacs, the smell of fresh cut wood, the sound of a thunderstorm rolling in from a distance or the smooth feeling of fresh sheets against our skin.   It's often the simplest things that stir in us the happiest of emotions.   But by small and simple things, great and marvelous things can also come to pass.   The grand canyon, amazing in it's greatness, was created over 5 to 6 million years by the simple flow of the Colorado River!

Collectively our greatest desire in our lives is to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father again with our families.   Are we doing the small and simple things that will help us to return to Him?    Reading the scriptures, going to the temple, praying daily, Family Home Evening, Ministering to others, these are all small and simple works and yet they have the power to create a great and marvelous work in our own lives and will allow us to feel Spiritual Uplift and Growth.  We also have the ability through small and simple acts to uplift others.   Dropping off a bouquet of flowers when prompted someone needs them, hugging a sister who needs extra love, a mother who relates daily trails to Gospel principles to teach her children, a family who shows love and kindness to each other and serves as an example to others.   We all have the ability to impact our own lives and the lives of others through 'Small and Simple Things'.
