What Does It Mean to Minister? - Jen Miller (with Miamaid class as special visitors)
Compassion-love-service-contact-prayer-helping-comfort-moms-doing something-following promptings - these are just a few of the words that pop into our heads when we think of ministering to others.
We have been asked in the scriptures to bear one another's burdens, to mourn with those that mourn, to comfort those that stand in need of comfort and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all places and in all things. (Mosiah 18:8-9)
In Henry B Eyrings talk "Trust In that Spirit Which Leadeth to do Good" he points out that we are obligated to help one another. He also explains that ministering is a feeling - it's love. We can minister in so many ways and often it is the little things that mean the most. Never let the fact that you don't have a casserole ready, or can't decide upon a grand gesture, or don't feel close enough' with someone distract you from following the promptings of the Spirit to minister to someone and as we commit to serve, we will become closer to the Savior.
Jen reminded us that Heavenly Father needs us to be brave, he needs us to bear our testimonies, he needs us to overcome our fears or shyness or whatever it is that holds us back from ministering to others. We can be the answer to another's prayer for help if we just listen and follow the prompting of the spirit!
Last Week - How are you doing? Are you willing to share an experience you've had?
Everyone: Pray in Faith with a desire and open hearts and minds to receive personal revelation.
Personalize it: What do you want to work on? Taking more time to listen? Writing down the thoughts that come to your mind? Follow through with the actions you are to take? Act immediately on a prompting? etc.

Service Opportunities - THIS WEEK!
The Johnson's will be moving this week and need help cleaning their house on Tuesday, May 29th between 12-3pm. Come help part of the time or the whole time if you are able - anything will help! Let's serve Kristel and her family one last time as we say our goodbyes to this wonderful family!
***Ray Kinghorn will once again be going to Tijuana Mexico to help build houses. With each trip a trailer load of humanitarian items is taken down for the members. This year the La Mesa Stake is working on their Self-Reliant Programs that are sponsored by the church. The items needed are for members who are trying to start up their own businesses. If you have or able to buy any of the items listed below to help in this cause, please deliver them to Ray's house no later than THIS Sunday, June 3rd.
Pray for guidance for those within our ward you can serve and then act upon those promptings.

Ministering to the Sisters
Each month the Ensign will include a Ministering Principles article. These articles are intended to help us learn to care for one another - not to be shared as messages during ministering visits. Sections from the articles will be included here each month. We will also have a link to the complete article.
Truly listening will help
you know how to help meet the spiritual and temporal needs of others as the
Savior would.
"A new name, new flexibility, and fewer reports will not make one ounce of difference in our service unless we see this as an invitation to care for one another in a bold new holier way."
