September 16th RS Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?

Am I a Child of God? by Elder Brian K Taylor led by Julie Peterson

Do you know who you are?

Pictures of Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, Princess Dianna of England, and Kate Middleton were shown. Do you know who they are? What do you think when you see pictures of Royalty?

Answers were: glad it is not me, it would be fun to be a princess, they know their family history, and genealogy.

Do you know who you are?

Pictures of Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, Princess Diana of England, and Kate Middelton were shown.

Who are you?  Answers were: Daughter of God, 5th generation Latter Day Saint. A friend told a sister when they were little “Your are beautiful, and a daughter of God” which she remembered, and it helped when she was going through hard times.

It is important to remember we are daughters of God because we have such potential in our lives. Coming to know this truth with certainty helps us overcome trials, troubles, and afflictions of every kind.

President Boyd K Packard said “You are a child of God.  He is the father of your spirit.  Spiritually you are of noble birth, the offspring of the King of Heaven.  Fix that truth in your mind and hold on to it.  However many generations in your mortal ancestry, no matter what race or people you represent, the pedigree of your spirit can be written on a single line. You are a child of God”

Why are we children of God? Because of Love. God has an unconditional love for us all. As a parent you can never imagine anyone else loving you children more than you do. But God loves them more. Knowing who we are gives us hope. We all have the privilege of his hope and love.

Satan tries to do everything he can to make us change what we feel and know. That is when we need to trust in God and follow his guidance. God knows how beautiful you are, and  how special you are, and he is always there for you.  Don’t let Satan tell you any different.
Always seek to know God our Father in Heaven.  Because YOU ARE A DAUGHTER OF GOD.

President Brigham Young said “When you see our Father, you will see a being with who you have a long acquaintance, and he will receive you into his arms and you will be ready to fall into his embrace and kiss him”.

Council Action:
Choose something you feel powerless over and give it to our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to this find one way to come to know Christ better.

Ministering to the Sisters

Ministering Principles: Learning Compassion

What does it mean to have compassion? Compassion is simply seeing someone’s need and wanting to help. Acting on that feeling leads us to do what we can for that person. This is part of our covenant to “bear one another’s burdens” (Mosiah 18:8) and is at the heart of ministering.

Have you completed the reading of Teaching in the Savior's Way?  The stake has asked each sister to read this. You can read it in the Gospel Library app or if you would like a hard copy, contact a member of the Sunday School Presidency.

"A new name, new flexibility, and fewer reports will not make one ounce of difference in our service unless we see this as an invitation to care for one another in a bold new holier way."
