April 14th Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?

Discussion on Ministering - Led by Val Green

Val asked the question: "How have you ministered this week?"
We sang the hymn "Have I Done Any Good?"

The sisters responded to Val's question:
Val - She was ministered to by a sister who sent her a text asking her how she was doing, and by another sister who brought her a cookie.
Hiroko - Linda Bright helped her with a project she was working on.
Brittani - Was ministered to when sisters helped her with her children.
Brianne - Had sisters help her with her children.
Cristen - Painted her Dad's apartment.
Jennie - Talked with granddaughter about being kind, and reached out to a friend in need.
Vicki - Had friends welcome her home from a trip via text, and she spent needed time on the phone with another friend.
Gentry - Hiroko sent her a nice thank-you for all the work she put into the Relief Society activity.

The comment was made that we do a lot for people that we don't necessarily recognize that we are ministering.

If you are stuck in your ministering, there are great resources:

  1. Go to lds.org and search for Ministering
  2. Read conference talks
  3. There is a section in the handbook on Ministering - Val has a handout of section.
Don't leave the gospel out of our ministering...talk about gospel principles.

Ministering is Heavenly Father nudging us to serve those around us. It is our way of representing Him.

Although it can sometimes feel easy, it is still always necessary. We need.to reassess where we are in our ministering

Ministering to our Sisters
Ministering Angels

My beloved brothers and sisters, I testify of angels, both the heavenly and the mortal kind. In doing so I am testifying that God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face. “[N]or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man [or woman or child] upon the face thereof to be saved.” - Jeffrey R Holland

As we prayerfully seek to serve our sisters, whether it's a hug, a meal or something of greater effort, we can be those angels sent to help Heavenly Father's children.

The elders quorum president and the Relief Society president communicate important needs directly to the bishop and will receive counsel and direction from him.

"A new name, new flexibility, and fewer reports will not make one ounce of difference in our service unless we see this as an invitation to care for one another in a bold new holier way."

Prayers for....

Leslie Elmer is in Montana helping her daughter recover from a surgery. There's been some setbacks and hard things that they are dealing with and Leslie reached out to ask for prayers from her Saratoga Springs friends.  Please pray for her to have the strength and endurance to continue to help her daughter and family and that things may improve soon so she can come home.  She also asks if you want to contact her to do it through email as phone service is very spotty where she is at. Card and letters also welcomed: 239 Frontier Trail, Kalispell, MT 59901 - email to lifelmer@gmail.com
