March 18th Weekly Connection

It's a Wrap.... What will you do with it now?
March 18th - Be Ye Therefore Perfect--Eventually by Jeffery R. Holland - discussion led by Sharon Mardesich

Is there anything you have yet perfected in this life?  What are some things that you are good at?  And are there things you are still working on?  That's what this life is for....to work on becoming better everyday....therefore becoming perfect.....eventually!

There are many in the church who struggle with this issue...."I am just not good enough." "I fall so far short."  "I will never measure up."  Often times we worry so much about being perfect we forget that it is a process of becoming perfect.  Elder Holland said, "I believe Jesus intended His sermon to be a tribute to who and what God the Eternal Father is and what we can achieve with Him in eternity."

Too often we become afraid of failing.  But the truth is we all make mistakes.  "Except for Jesus, there have been no flawless performances on this earthly journey we are pursuing, so while in mortality let's strive for steady improvement without obsessing over what behavioral scientists call "toxic perfectionism.""

"Every one of us aspires to a more Christlike life than we often succeed in living.  If we admit that honestly and are trying to improve, we are not hypocrites; we are human."

Council Action for March (and April)
Everyone: Build a stronger relationship with your Father in Heaven.
Personalize it: Choose one thing that you need to work on to become closer to Heavenly Father.
Examples: attend the temple more often, spend more time in the scriptures, have more meaningful prayers, read and reread your patriarchal blessing, study conference talks, use positive talk about yourself, etc.
